Machete's Monstrous Move

Cesar Montano's substitution for the candidacy of Jericho Petilla is not a big news. It is an enormous parody. If he wins, it's a gargantuan tragedy. Surprise was the least emotion I felt when I heard of Team Unity's latest 'high-level' political moves.

In an interview, Montano said 'Matagal ko ng ginagawa yung tumulong sa kapwa Filipino. I have been a public servant in my own little way. So eto, I’ll do it in a bigger scope lang.' It reeks pretentiousness. First, you don't have publicly declare that you are helping other people. Second, if you have been a public servant in your own way then why not stay that way? Politics as a subject is enriching but politics as a life is insane. I should know. My father has been a politician since 1988.

On the other hand, Team Unity reasons that there are two factors for the substitution.
1. Petilla's substitute should be a Lakas member.
2. Petilla's substitute should have capability and credibility since these are the qualifications of a Team Unity candidate.

The first criterion is reasonable but the second is incredible.

You mean Team Unity or Team Bansot (as MLQ3 wrote) requires capability and credibility?

Let's analyze: Team Unity Candidates: Capability and Credibility
1. Luis Singson
2. Prospero Pichay
3. Ralph Recto
4. Tito Sotto
5. Tessie Oreta

Should I continue? Or should I stop so that all of us could vommit?

What capability? What credibility?

Purple Phoenix,

I was reading over at Jove's blog that you may be the daughter Danton Bueser...

There's been recent reports of his arrest due to carrying a loaded weapon...

Do you have any statements about this matter?

Election is still a long way to go and there are already a lot of controversies about the suitability of some candidates running. Had there was a Strong Party system type of Government where Candidates are nominated by a large base of memberships, the so-called unqualified or unsuitable candidates could have been eliminated. Look at the Candidates running on any sides. You have Chavit Singson, a known Gambling lord, and alleged criminal. You have actors and actresses, who experienced had shown can't even distinquish the difference between the hall of congress and the hall of the movie studio. And you have the candidates, because they happen to be rich, and sons and daughters and grandchildren of politicians before them, who were known to have accumulated enough campaign funds for at least the next ten generations of their lineage during their onw tenure. Example, the Marcosses, the Estradas, The Osmenas, The Magsaysays, The Aquinos, etc...

And ten Generations is about 300 years...

I doubt if we will have a strong party system. Even when we had a two-party system it wasn't really based on platforms but personalities. It's the culture not the system.
