Elections - No Elections Rumors

Let's make this simple.

Here are some Cha-Cha Chismis that I have heard from buzzing bees.
Rumor 1: the administration has accepted the reality that the 2007 elections will push through.

Rumor 2: the administration will try to halt elections arguing that computerized voting is not possible. COMELEC will 'complain' that they do not have enough time and budget to hold elections.

Rumor 3: the administration will push for Constitutional Assembly.

Rumor 4: the administration will push for Constitutional Assembly to divert interests on the Electoral Fraud issue that will figure again come election time.

Rumor 5: the administration is now preparing for Garci II. It may not be Garci but some other 'strategist.'

I can already smell elections.

Hi Jowana,

The appointment of Garci's henchmen and the late push for automation by Gordon are clear signs that something is going down. Gordon sat on the automation bill. It was given to him late last year but only acted on it last month. There really is no time to automate. Remember, Gordon attended the lower house-sponsored summit on Cha-Cha a few months back. The continued COMELEC bashing by Gordon is a clear sign that he is laying down the grounds to blame the COMELEC if elections do not push through. Locsin has already questioned his intentions. If Gordon really meant well, he should have acted on the automation bill months ago. This is the reason why the COMELEC is up in arms. Clearly, there is no time. I believe that Enrile and Gordon are conniving to hoodwink the people.

BTW, I just converted to the beta that is why I have a new ID.

The COMELEC has been pushing for manual elections for some time now, and out preparations have geared for just that. If automation comes into play, it'll be just an overlay that we can do with, or without. We warned COngress about their long delay in passing the budget, informing them of the consequences of further delay. As a result, they gave us the money we needed for our preparatory activities. And so the beat goes on...
